Birth is a key theme in Brazilian culture. In folk art there are scenes of home births where the mother gives birth to the baby crouching or lying down. There are other examples of natural or c-section births in hospitals. And also hundreds of breastfeeding scenes. This diversity is evidence of the coexistence of different cultural practices and the interest in birth.
