Zé Antônio de Tracunhaém

José Antonio Vieira was born in 1910 in Tracunhaém, Pernambuco State. Son of potters, he was still a child when he learned to use the oven. For many years he worked as a helper in a utility ceramics production workshop. Despite the influence of his family members – his sister Lidia and her husband Severino de Tracunhaém; sisters Regina and Antonia, and his uncle João Prudencio – he created his own style with instigating works, endowed with strong imaginary content. He is already deceased.
